Dear Dog Lovers,
God
Bless the ASPCA!!
We applaud the rescue workers and the
legitimate rescue organizations
saving helpless and hopeless little puppies and
breeding stock. We support and admire their efforts.
Every now and then the
media takes up the cause and broadcasts stories about puppymills in VA,
MD, WV and PA. All of these areas provide puppies to our
region so we understand your concern. We wanted to take
a moment to address the issue.
Although we understand
the need to ask "Are you a puppymill?", we would also
ask to you to take the time to understand what a
puppymill is. Puppymills are filthy,
disgusting, stinking places where dogs are left to
breed, often unsupervised, in small overcrowded cages
and pens. They are underfed and have to fight to
survive, The resulting dogs have uncertain health, poor
manners and questionable temperament. We encourage every
customer to take a moment to find out more about
puppymills. These puppies and dogs deserve to be rescued.
That is precisely why we have always supported the ASPCA
and several other legitimate rescue and animal welfare organizations with
our time and our money.
Puppies and dogs that
come from these deplorable places have never had
positive, loving human contact so they don’t know how to
relate to and play with people. Many have long term
health issues because of the appalling conditions that
they are forced to live in. Inbreeding is a major
problem. Male dogs randomly breed with their sisters and
even their own mothers resulting in puppies with psychological and
genetic abnormalities that can never be cured.
Puppymills breed for quantity NOT quality.
It usually takes an
enormous amount of time, patience, love, understanding
and care to turn a puppymill puppy into a pet. If you
and your family can truly provide that care and that
environment, please, please adopt a dog from your local
shelter. But if you can’t, then be fair to the dog and
leave her for someone who can. Don’t take her home only
to take her back in three months. We hear all too often “We
got a dog from the shelter but we just
couldn’t handle it. We took him back last weekend.” It's heartbreaking for the family and for the dog.
We have done everything
possible to assure our customers that our
puppies have been cared for and provided, not only
comfort and love, but the best health care money can
buy. All parents are examined, tested and cleared prior to
breeding and all puppies are vet-checked prior to going
home.
Our website leads many
people to assume that we are a kennel or a pet shop. We are
not. We are a group of twelve breeders (mostly family)
who are well respected in the breeding world with a
reputation that other breeders strive for. We hold
ourselves to the highest ethics and breeding standards.
We all have professions and quality homes. We do not
have an "office" or "facility". When you make an
appointment with us you will be invited to our home to
meet your new puppy.
We are proud to say that
we have never had a puppy sent to a shelter or rescue
organization. We offer a LIFETIME RETURN POLICY because
that this
is the very least a breeder can do to protect and care
for the puppies they have raised and nurtured.
We appreciate you taking
the time to visit our site and look forward to inviting
you to become part of the DCDogFinders family!
