Yorkshire Terrier / Poodle Hybrid

History

The Yorkie Poo puppy is a hybrid or cross between a Yorkshire Terrier (Yorkie) and a Poodle.

The Yorkshire Terrier originated in the city of Yorkshire, in Northern England. They were first bred in the middle of the 19th century and kept in mostly industrial areas, where they were trained to catch small rodents but over the years they have developed into a happy, playful little companion.
The poodle is believed to have originated in Germany, where it was known as the "Pudelhund". Pudel (puddle), in German means "to splash about", and the word hund means dog. The breed was standardized in France, where it was commonly used as a water retriever.

Description

YorkiePoo puppies are very healthy puppies but because of their small size and “delicate body” they require lots of down time and can be subject to hypoglycemia (low blood sugar).

The myth that they can hang out in a travel bag or purse for hours upon hours is exactly that - a MYTH. They need to eat every 2-3 hours and should not be put in situations that do not allow them to have access to food and water.

They are non-shedding and "allergy friendly" allowing you to gain a companion that you'll love to live with.

Personality

These are happy, fun-loving, great with kids. They're very intelligent, and learn tricks easily when rewarded!

Size & Color

Their silky coat and curly coats does not shed. Most mature from 6 to 10 pounds, depending on genetics. They come in a variety of colors.

Care

Brush your Yorki Poo weekly and bathe as needed. Keep its hair trimmed out of ears and eyes. The Yorki Poo has a lifespan of up to 15 years. Like other hybrids, Yorki Poos tend to have fewer health problems than purebreds (known as ‘hybrid vigor’).

Training

Yorkie Poos are vey smart because of the Poodle influence. They want to please you so they learn commands quickly as long as you are totally consistent.

Activity Level

Yorkie Poo puppies do not require a lot of exercise. They are primarily and indoor dog. They are happy chasing a ball around the living room all day long or just as content curled up at your feet while you watch television or read a book.
